Island Lights 2019 at Sentosa: Interactive Light Installations at Sentosa Cove Village

Island Lights 2019 has made its way to Sentosa Cove for the year-end holidays. Along a 135m-long space by the marina, seven light art installation based on the theme “Celebration” invite visitors to interact with them.

The light installations at Island Lights 2019 is curated by design studio Space Objekt. This is their first art curation effort and among the artists exhibiting is co-founder Tina Fung.

Island Lights 2019 Installations

“When love beckons to you, follow him” - Island Lights 2019Amongst the highlights at Island Lights 2019 is “When love beckons to you, follow him” (Khalil Gibran, The Prophet) by Juls (Singapore) and Tina Fung (Denmark). This work features multi-coloured panels which represent the different auras people emanate, symbolising the law of attraction that could be complementary, analogous, primary or secondary.

LEDSCONTROL’s ShadowDial - Sentosa Island Lights 2019LEDSCONTROL’s ShadowDial is a work that aims to present the perception of time as a sensory experience. Visitors to Island Light 2019 will be able to experience the installation through light, shadow and movement.

Candy Quartz by Reza Hasni (Singapore) and Tina Fung (Denmark)However, the work which attracts the most attention is Candy Quartz by Reza Hasni (Singapore) and Tina Fung (Denmark). Fitted out with seesaws, the installation encourages fun, enjoyment and mutual sharing through the kinetic movement of the play equipment, encouraging both children and adults to have fun and interact.

Pink, a performance by Polina KorobovaBesides the light art installations, catch Pink, a performance by Polina Korobova. Sitting in a pink house, the ShimmerShack, it is a play of pink glittery proportions! Using glitter as the medium, Korobova will immerse and shower herself in it, gradually transforming into an artwork – the GlitterQueen persona.

She will be performing on selected Saturdays from 6.30 pm to 10.30 pm at the Quayside Isle, Fountain Plaza. Catch the performance on 16 and 30 November, and 7, 21 and 28 December 2019.

Other activities at Island Lights 2019 at Sentosa Cove include performances and carollers.

There will also be movie screenings on selected dates.
