Feel Your Way Through the Gallery: Going on the Inside Out 2 Trail at National Gallery Singapore
To embark on the trail, you will first need to pick up a General Admission ticket from one of the ticketing machines.
Then head to the Information Counter at Basement 1 to pick up a free specially designed activity booklet that will guide you along the trail.
There are only 100 of these free activity booklets available each day.
If you are not able to pick up a booklet, you can still make use of an online guide to go through the trail. However, we would recommend picking up the physical booklet as it also includes simple games, drawing prompts and observation tasks that will help you and your family to explore emotions in a fun and engaging way.
If needed, you can even borrow a pencil from the Information Counter to use with the booklet. How thoughtful!
Exploring Your Emotions at the Galleries
There are a total of 20 stops on the Inside Out 2 trail at National Gallery Singapore. These take you around the Southeast Asia Galleries as well as to various points of interest within the National Gallery Singapore building.
Each of these stops is associated with Inside Out 2’s core emotions of Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Anxiety.
The stops are marked out with special trail signs. You can also make use of the prompts to respond to each of the artworks or locations.
Paintings included in the trail include works such as Fernando Cueto Amorsolo’s Liberation Manila in Flames, Raden Saleh’s Boschbrand (Forest Fire) and more, and public spaces include locations such as the Lower Link Bridge (Padang Atrium).
How does each painting make you feel? Happy? Anxious? Sad? The trail is a great way to experience the artworks and to learn about the feelings that the artists were trying to capture or convey to the viewer.
The stops at the public spaces along the trail are also a chance to observe and connect with how emotions can be felt not only through art, but also through architecture, scale, light, and space.
Since this is a self-guided trail, you can complete the activities at your own pace. Expect to take approximately 45 to 60 minutes to go through the trail.
The “Feel Your Way Through the Gallery” Self-Guided Trail is on from now till 31 March 2026.
General Admission to National Gallery Singapore is free for Singaporeans and PRs.
