
The Indian Heritage Centre’s (IHC) Deepavali Open House returns with a special
edition, in line with IHC’s 10th anniversary (IHC10)! Held across four weekends from 27 September to 19 October 2025, the Open House is themed around the significance of flowers in Indian culture, transforming the IHC into a blooming cultural space with vibrant displays, hands-on activities and programmes that capture the spirit of Deepavali.
For the first time in this IHC10 special, IHC will open after hours for two evenings of
programmes and performances as part of their special night programming on 27 September and 4 October 2025.

Each year, the Indian Heritage Centre holds a Deepavali Open House where you can experience traditional food, fashion, and activities that showcase Indian culture.

This year, the Deepavali Open House at the Indian Heritage Centre returns from 27 September to 19 October 2025.
Visit the Indian Heritage Centre’s (IHC) Deepavali Open House for a unique cultural experience. In celebration of its 10th anniversary, the IHC will host its first-everafter-hours experience.
With a vibrant line-up of free activities and performances, there is something for everyone.
Families can have fun at the drop-in craft activities where you will get to make your very own clay lotus hanging ornaments, floral tealight holders or Deepavali postcards; dress-up in festive apparel at the festive dress-up booth and get some henna painting done, then stop by the photo booth to capture a photo memento.

Kids can also look forward to the refreshed Deepavali activity booklets, with two versions tailored to different age groups. Each booklet is filled with exciting puzzles, word searches, colouring pages, and a sticker sheet to design traditional Indian outfits.
And for the little adventurers, be sure to catch Divine Tales – Special After Dark Drama in the Gallery, a thrilling skit bringing to life the mythological tale behind the Festival of Lights through music, dance, and festive traditions.
On the weekends, enjoy crafts such as Clay Lotus Hanging Ornament, Floral Tealight Holder, Deepavali Postcards and Colouring Sheets.
On weekdays, Tuesday to Fridays only, there will be hands-on Lotus tea light craft to celebrate the Festival of Deepavali and the beauty of flowers.
Other things to look out this Deepavali at the Indian Heritage Centre’s open house include refreshed Deepavali activity booklets, a Cultural Flower Stall and Festive Dress Up Booth.

Week 1: 27 to 28 September
The Open House kicks off with the Traditional Lamp Art Making Workshop, where artist
Kanday Anjanappa introduces Tholu Bommalata, a traditional shadow puppet art of India. On 27 September, visitors can also be among the first to experience IHC’s after-hours
programme, with a special evening of cultural performances and activities.
Week 2: 4 to 5 October
Participate in the Little India Festive Guided Tour & Banana Leaf Meal, a guided trail
through Little India’s vibrant flower stalls that will end off with a six-course floral-inspired
banana leaf meal. At the IHC, participants can join a lively cooking demonstration featuring
edible flowers in festive dishes such as Banana Blossom Vadai and Carrot-Rose-Coconut
Laddu with Cooking with Chef Devagi – From Petals to Plate.
Week 3: 11 to 12 October
Families can come together for The Story Behind Deepavali, a parent-child workshop filled
with songs, storytelling and hands-on activities to introduce little ones to the festival’s
traditions.
