The Yellow Submarine Playground in Hougang
The Beatles song goes “We all live in a yellow submarine, yellow submarine, yellow submarine”. While you may not want to live at the yellow submarine playground in Hougang, it is still a good spot for kids living in the neighbourhood to have some fun at!
The Submarine Playground is very compact and can be found in the space between the housing apartment block and the road beside the Hougang Sports Centre’s perimeter.

The main structure of the playground consists of a wooden play platform that has been designed to look like a submarine.
Kids can enter in from the side or the front and rear. There are two tiers of platforms within the yellow submarine.
A bright yellow slide comes out from one of the sides. It serves as a way for kids to slip out of the submarine to explore the rest of the cosy playground.
There are also sound tubes that kids can call into from within the submarine and a cute octopus figure can also be found at the top of the submarine.
One of the interesting features of the yellow Hougang submarine playground is a look out porthole for kids to peer out of the submarine. From the outside though, it has been designed to look like a scuba suit.
And in fact, there is a short write up about ocean exploration where inquisitive kids can learn more about the world underwater. There is even a QR code that can be scanned to access even more information.
More Play Experiences at the Hougang Submarine Playground
Besides the yellow submarine play structure, another play feature here is a shark cut out where kids can crawl through it mouth to get to a set of crates on the inside.
Poles around the yellow submarine also add to the theming that it is underwater with seaweed floating upwards from the sea bed.
Some of these poles are also strung out with red ropes to provide an extra challenge for kids who may wish to test their balancing skills.
Hougang Submarine Playground
The Hougang Submarine Playground is not a large playground but it does provide a spot where kids and families living in the neighbourhood can have some fun. We liked its bright and cheery colours and how it offered simple fun.
