Most people have heard of the tale of Hansel and Gretel, but did you know that there’s an opera based on it? In 1892, the German composer Engelbert Humperdinck created the opera Hänsel und Gretel, which received its first performance in 1893 under the baton of Richard Strauss.
Humperdinck’s masterpiece is loved for its catchy and evocative writing inspired by folk music. The Vocal Associates is proud to present a special version of it, performed entirely by children and youth.
