The Gardens by the Bay’s Mid-Autumn Festival 2019 pays tribute to Chinese traditions and folklore with larger-than-life lanterns, performances and cultural activities from 30 August to 15 September 2019.
The theme of Gardens by the Bay’s Mid-Autumn Festival 2019 is “Legacies” and it features a total of 14 lantern sets.
Inside a Lantern
A new addition to the type of lantern displays is a Giant Revolving Lantern. Inspired by the traditional “Zou Ma Deng” lantern which rotates as a result of the heat of a candle to give the illusion of horses running, the supersized version at Gardens by the Bay’s Mid-Autumn Festival 2019 measures 30 metres in diameter and is wrapped around a Supertree.

The Giant Revolving Lantern is so large that visitor can walk inside the lantern to view the story of Chang E and Hou Yi unfolding on moving murals.

Lanterns in the Night
Over at Dragonfly Lake, two floating lantern sets illuminate the waters.

The two floating lantern sets span 120 metres across the water. They form the longest lantern installation at Gardens by the Bay’s Mid-Autumn celebrations to date.

Photo-worthy Light Spots

At Bayfront Plaza, 90 one-metre-tall lanterns hang from the roof to create the Lattice of Lights display.
