Head down to Chinatown for the biggest event in the Chinese calendar! Take in the dazzling lantern displays, soak in the atmosphere, and stock up on festive treats, decorations, clothing and more at the festive bazaar.

Official Light-Up and Opening Ceremony
27 Jan
6 pm to 10 pm
New Bridge Road and Eu Tong Sen Street
The event continues to awe visitors with entertaining performances by both local and China leading performing troupes. Together with spectacular firecrackers and fireworks display, it will bring the opening ceremony to a greater height as we usher in the Year of the Dog.

Street Light-Up
27 Jan to 16 Mar
7 pm – 6 am (15 & 16 February 2018)
7 pm – 2 am (Friday & Saturday)
7 pm – 12 mn (Sunday – Thursday)
Eu Tong Sen Street, New Bridge Road, South Bridge Road and Garden Bridge
The official Light-Up and Opening Ceremony will be followed by 7 weeks of street light up along the streets of Chinatown, featuring handmade sculptured lanterns of dogs, flowers and greetings.

Chinatown Chinese New Year Countdown Party

Be entertained by the lively performances by MediaCorp artists, from a medley of festive songs, skits to interactive games as the countdown party culminates with rousing firecrackers and a spectacular display of fireworks.

Chingay 2018 @ Heartlands

The Chingay parade, the annual largest street performance and float parade in Asia, will make an appearance in Chinatown this year to bring the festivities to great heights and mark the end of the Chinese New Year Celebrations.

11th International Lion Dance Competition

Carpark at Banda Street (off Sago Lane)
The annual event which has gone into its 11th year will see more than 10 reputable top troupes from Singapore and Asia Pacific, all vying for the grand prize and the honour of being recognised as ‘the best of the best’ as they pit against one another with skillful stunts and intricate manoeuvres on the meihuazhuang.

Ushering “Paws-perity” at Chinatown

Kreta Ayer Square
Spend a memorable morning with your beloved furry friends at a special dog-themed carnival where cute and edible treats will be sold especially for your best furriends to enjoy this Lunar New Year. Or show off your pet dressed in their best Lunar New Year outfit in the “Dog Costume Competition” that will be held alongside the carnival! Come dressed to impress, as cash vouchers and trophies will be awarded to the top three most festive or creative looks.

Festive Street Bazaar
26 Jan to 15 Feb

6 pm – 1 am (Chinese New Year’s Eve)
Pagoda Street, Smith Street, Sago Street, Temple Streetand Trengganu Street
With a variety of stalls lining up the streets of Chinatown, visitors can feast on mouth-watering New Year delicacies, enjoy the brilliant lights and decorations of the stalls and shop for the many New Year traditional goodies from cookies, decorative items, waxed duck and preserved fruits to potted plants and clothing.
