More than 700 families took part in the “Celebrating Fathers” Picnic on Saturday, 25 June, to celebrate the important role played by fathers, grandfathers and uncles.
Part of Families for Life’s #IChooseFamilyTime campaign, families enjoyed activities such as a treasure hunt, food from the Families for Life Mobile Café and music performances by world fusion music trio, Flame of the Forest, which comprise of a father and two sons.
Guest-of-Honour Mr Tan Chuan-Jin, Minister for Social and Family Development, also joined in the picnic and played a five-a-side football game together with the Dads for Life Soccer Team.

Families for Life Council Member BG(NS) Ishak Ismail said, “Fathers, grandfathers and uncles play significant roles in all stages of a child’s development. From learning how to ride a bicycle to cultivating hobbies, father figures influence greatly the values that are instilled in a child and in shaping the emotional well-being of a child. Watching the interactions between fathers and their children at the “Celebrating Fathers” Picnic today has encouraged the Families for Life Council in our expanded #IChooseFamilyTime campaign to engage more families in Singapore.”
