There is no need for a ticket to take flight at the airplane playground located at Changi Airport’s Terminal 3 Basement 2 public area. Featuring an airplane that kids can climb into, the children’s playground is a spot where play takes flight.

The Red Airplane
At the centre of the airplane playground is, of course, an airplane. The bright red airplane is adorn with white stripe livery and two small jet engines can found under its wings. The plane is on a runway and poised to take off!
Kids can climb into the cabin of the airplane playground where there is space for a number of them to pile on as passengers. In fact, the long cabin seems to be a favourite place for kids to hide out!
Right at the front of the airplane, there is a cockpit area where aspiring young pilots can climb inside and pretend that they are taking control of the plane as it lifts off into the sky.
There is even a control panel with dials and levers inside the cockpit that can add fuel to a child’s imagination.
At the rear of the airplane, there are three cloud-shaped steps that encourage play as kids jump and balance their way to the departing plane.
Rainbow Cloud Slide
The airplane play structure is complemented by another play structure at the playground. This second playground is in the form of a rainbow that is coming out from a cloud.
Look closer and you will find that the rainbow cloud is actually a mini slide!
Kids can climb up the steps hidden within the cloud and slide down the rainbow!
The soft padded playground also has little grey mounds on the floor that kids can bounce off from.
The playground space is intended for kids between the ages of 2 to 5 years old. It is designed by Danish design studio MONSTRUM. It occupies a space that has taken on many different forms over the years.
In the past, this Changi Airport Terminal 3 basement play space has been a regular playground, a Hello Kitty playground and even a nyonya kueh playground. This latest airplane playground is the latest re-invention of the playground space.
