Experia Events, organiser of the Singapore Airshow 2020, announced in a media release that the biennale event will be proceeding as planned from 11 to 16 February 2020 at the Changi Exhibition Centre. In light of the current 2019 novel coronavirus situation, enhanced precautionary measures will also be introduced for the safety of attendees.
Enhanced Measures at Singapore Airshow 2020
The Singapore Airshow 2020 consists of trade days from 11 to 14 February, followed by two days when it is open to the public on 15 and 16 February.
While the Singapore Airshow will proceed, Experia Events will be implementing safety measures as called for by DORSCON yellow, the level of alert currently in place in Singapore. These include enhanced cleaning and refuse management to maintain a high level of hygiene, making hand sanitisers available to attendees and having a team of doctors and medics to attend to those who are feeling unwell.
In addition, Experia Event will be implementing temperature screenings at Singapore Expo and Changi Exhibition Centre.
Impact on Exhibitors and Visitors
The novel coronavirus has already affected the show with the event organiser saying that they expect attendance numbers to be lower this year. Due to Singapore’s recently travel restrictions and individual company policies on travel, ten exhibitors from China and six from four other countries have pulled out of the Singapore Airshow 2020.
South Korea’s Black Eagles aerobatic team has also confirmed that they will not be participating in the airshow. In addition, the Singapore Airshow Aviation Leadership Summit 2020, a conference for government officials, airport operators, airline executives and other aviation leaders will not be held this year.
Experia Events has also indicated that it will be ready to implement additional measures as required by the authorities and provide updates in the lead up to the Singapore Airshow.
