Play time with the kids does not need to be complicated. And if you are in Yishun and are just looking for some simple play time for young ones, it does not get much simpler than the Yishun Pond Park Nature Playgarden.
Yishun Pond Park Nature Playgarden
The Yishun Pond Park Nature Playgarden is tucked away at the northern side of the pond. It is opposite from the Yishun Pond Park Therapeutic Garden and across the path from FutsalArena @ Yishun.
Nature Playgardens embody the philosophy of allowing kids to play and interact with nature from a young age. This means materials and surroundings that immerse kids into a natural environment, without the need for a lot of play equipment.

The Yishun Pond Park Nature Playgarden is divided into three broad zones – one for Mobility Play, a second for Kids’ Exploration and the last one for Sensory Play.
Mobility Zone
The play features at the Mobility Zone of the Yishun Pond Park Nature Playgarden provide the opportunity for kids to practise their balance and agility.
Rocks and boulders of various sizes make up the Rock Scramble. This is a spot where young kids can put their balancing skills to the test.
Keeping up the idea of encouraging kids to practise their agility is the Balancing Mounds, a series of logs that have been positioned to encourage kids to balance and play.
Kids’ Exploration Zone
The next area of the Yishun Pond Park Nature Playgarden is for kids to explore and use their senses.
The River Crossing is made up of a mini bridge that spans a ravine. On a bright and sunny day, it looks like a dry pebbly channel. However, it appears that when it rains, a shallow river may form under the bridge.
Another area in this zone is Biodiversity Garden. A signboard posted at this area highlights various flora and fauna that may be found nearby. It is a chance for kids to exercise their observation skills.
The last section is the Play Mounds. Three mini hills provide different vantage points for kids. When we visited, the vegetation on the mounds was starting to overtake it. But you can still climb up and take in the views from the top of the mounds.
Sensory Play
In this last zone of the Yishun Pond Park Nature Playgarden, you will find a sandpit along with markings for the traditional game of hopscotch.
There is also a sensory path fitted with different types of surfaces and materials where kids can experience a variety of textures.
Simple Play by Yishun Pond
The Yishun Pond Park Nature Playgarden is a simple play spot for younger kids. You can stop by to enjoy it while taking a walk around the waters of the pond.
