Central Atrium at Marina Square

From 24 June to 1 July 2025, the Central Atrium at Marina Square has transformed into a pink Barbie fashion runway for Wings of Art 2025. The fund-raising event aims to turn art into action in support of underprivileged children from the Singapore Red Cross.

The organisers aim to fill up the runway with 1,060 Winged Barbies which include 60 one-of-a-kind creations by local artists. Donors can bid for these Winged Barbies in an online charity auction in support of the Singapore Red Cross.

The 60 Barbies represent the local artists’ personal vision of hope and the SG60 spirit.

Scarlett Threadwing wears a gown made from yarn. The work of yarn shop Yarning Heart’s owner Alexandria Neoh is a reminder that growth, just like crocheting, takes time.

Woven Wishes

Another work that makes use of yarn, along with lace and reclaimed textiles, is Woven Wishes by artists Natalia Tan and Lim Soon Min. The collaboration is a reflection of the artists’ commitment to environmental sustainability and feminist narratives as well as an invitation for all to weave their own wings.

Wings for Wounds

Wings for Wounds is the work of a team of students from Methodist Girls’ School’s IDEAS (Innovation. Design. Entrepreneurship. Art for Society) Club. The work by Angel Lim, Lisa Teo, Emma Grace Fang, Anusha Biswas, Chloe Goh and Sophie Ser makes use of soda tabs collected by their teachers and peers and celebrates sustainability through collaboration.

The public can also participate in Wings of Art by designing their Wing Barbies at daily crafting workshops with a donation.

At the crafting sessions, participants will be provided with a Barbie doll that will serve as a canvas as well as a set of wings to decorate and adorn the Barbie doll with. Participants can make use of the art materials provided.

After completing the Winged Barbie, participants can choose to include it on the SG60 Barbie Runway Showcase or take it home.

Pre-registration is required for these crafting sessions. Registration can be done by the link here.
