Good news for those who love taking their kids to experience the magic of the arts in the theatre: Wild Rice has launched a new children’s division A Little Wild. 


A Little Wild: A New Children’s Theatre Division at Wild Rice

A Little Wild will caters to young audiences ages 5 and up. It is dedicated to providing children with a “perfect first live theatre experience” and inspire young ones through transformative theatrical experiences, making them become more compassionate, inquisitive and imaginative.

“Wild Rice has long been at the forefront of creating theatre for the whole family our annual holiday musical has become a highlight of Singapore’s arts calendar,” says Ivan Heng, Founding Artistic Director of Wild Rice.

“We are proud to expand on that grand tradition with shows designed especially to inspire children today to build the artists and audiences of tomorrow,” he added.

First Show: The Velveteen Rabbit in August 2023

The first A Little Wild show will be presented in August 2023 and is a stage adaptation of a classic children’s book The Velveteen Rabbit. This tells of a a stuffed toy rabbit that wishes to become real. 

The book was adapted for the stage by Thomas Lim, the Associate Artistic Director for Youth & Education at Wild Rice. It will be directed by Ian Loy, who is well known for his work with Esplanade for its PLAYtime! series

“When I was growing up, the theatre was a magical place for me it’s where I was inspired to dream and to stay curious about the world around me,” said Thomas “With A Little Wild, we hope to create and share theatrical experiences that will similarly spark moments of wonder and discovery for our young audiences.”
