There is now another reason to pay a visit to Mandai Wildlife East besides visiting the Singapore Zoo and River Wonders – Southeast Asia’s first digital SUSHIRO or Digiro experience opens at SUSHIRO Mandai Wildlife Reserve from 11 June 2025 onwards.
If you love sushi, you would know definitely know about SUSHIRO, Japan’s top kaiten sushi or conveyor belt sushi chain, which has popped up all around Singapore.
SUSHIRO is now bringing its digital sushi conveyor belt experience from Japan to Singapore (and Southeast Asia) at its outlet at Mandai Wildlife East, the public area outside of the wildlife parks. Therefore, there is no need for admission to Singapore Zoo or any other wildlife park to patronise the SUSHIRO outlet.

Digital SUSHIRO (Digiro) at Mandai Wildlife East
Instead of plates of sushi chugging their way past diners around on a conveyor belt, at the SUSHIRO Mandai Wildlife Reserve outlet, digital images of sushi trundle past diners on a huge digital screen next to the table.
Diners can choose the sushi that they want from the screen and submit the order. The sushi then arrives at the table via the conveyor belt.
We had a chance to try the digital sushi experience on a media invite.
The Digiro Experience at SUSHIRO
After taking our seats at the table, the first thing that impossible to ignore was the humongous digital screen that hung above the conveyor rails next to the table. This huge touchscreen monitor, known as Digital Sushiro Vision, stretches the length of width of the booth.
What is noticeably absent is the tablet that can normally be used to place orders. This had been replaced by the huge screen.
There are several ways to place the order: the Sushi Navi display, the Conveyor Belt display and a regular menu interface that looks like the familiar menu you would find at a regular SUSHIRO tablet.
Sushi Navi turns the entire digital screen into a display that shows all the menu items available. The display can be freely moved around – up and down; left and right.
At first it can seem rather overwhelming seeing all the menu items (with prices) on one big screen but it is a good way to get an overview of sushi plates to tempt yourself.
After playing around with this navigation mode for a while, we discovered that there are filters that can be selected. Press the icon “For Tuna Lovers” and all the tuna dishes get displayed. Choose “All Our Creative Dishes” and you can see a smaller selection of dishes.
It is an interesting way to cut and dice the SUSHIRO menu.
Conveyor Belt Display
The Conveyor Belt display turns the screen into a digital conveyor belt and there are two modes: Sushiro mode and DakkoSushi Game mode.
In the Conveyor Belt Sushiro mode, the screen shows sushi plates flowing by a backdrop of a Japanese-style room .
We watched as digital plates of sushi made their way across the screen. To order, we just tapped the sushi we wanted and placed it in our order queue to be sent to the kitchen.
What we liked about the digital conveyor belt, as compared to a regular physical conveyor belt, was that when we got impatient waiting for the sushi to scroll past, we could touch and drag the stream of sushi to see what was coming up next.
DakkoSushi Game
The Conveyor Belt DakkoSushi Game mode was where the fun began. Sushiro’s mascots appeared in the background, each holding dakko or a sushi topping. We especially liked how one of the mascots was carrying a mini orang utan – a nod to the outlet’s Mandai Wildlife East location.
A little bar at the top right of the screen shows you how close you are to being able to play a game. Whenever you order a menu item, the bar counter builds up with points when the item arrives at the table. When the bar reaches 100, you can play a game.
With cute characters, the game is an amusing distraction from eating.
We played two games without any success and it was on the third game that we finally won a prize!
The prize – a cute pin featuring SUSHIRO’s mascots alongside Singapore’s dragon playground – arrived on the conveyor belt.
In case you find that you are tempted to over-order because of the game, there is an option to turn the game mode off.
Other Good-to-Knows about SUSHIRO Mandai Wildlife Reserve
For those who are used to the tablet-style ordering interface, there is the option to bring that menu up as well.
When you are done with your meal, you can press the “Call” button on the screen. However, unlike regular SUSHIRO outlets, you do not need to wait for a service staff to come and scan the plates.
Instead, just use the same ticket that was given to you when you first checked-in to pay the bill at the payment counter.
The SUSHIRO Mandai Wildlife Reserve outlet also has a self-service takeaway counter for those who may wish to buy some sushi to go.
On the whole, the digital SUSHIRO experience was excellent. There are now new ways to order and find items, plus the game mode provides a spot of entertainment.

Plus, the food now gets made to order and there is no need to wonder if the plates going around on the conveyor belt is fresh!
