This space combines a vibrant Kopitiam Food Hall within a modern supermarket, offering both everyday essentials and gourmet delights.
But that is not all – shoppers at the Sembawang Shopping Centre FairPrice Finest can also enjoy Grocer Bar’s selections and access Unity Pharmacy’s health essentials, making this outlet a one-stop destination for all things food, drinks, and wellness.
Sembawang Shopping Centre FairPrice Finest: Truly SUPERMarket
I love going on supermarket runs with the bean and the trip to SSC’s FairPrice Finest got me really excited because of its unique blended concept.
OPEN HOUSE: Discover first-hand the British Council’s teaching methods and meet their approachable Academic team on 14 & 21 June
GIVEAWAY: Stand a Chance to Win S$100 iShopChangi Vouchers
First up is Delicato, FairPrice’s in-house butchery offering premium meat cuts at wallet-friendly prices. They also offer complimentary marination and vacuum packing services – perfect for busy parents like me who want quality ingredients without the extra prep work.
The bean got really excited at the international food aisle because he eyed one of his favourite Korean snacks.
In keeping up with local trends, FairPrice Group partnered with Central Food Retail Group and Lotte Mart to bring over 80 exclusive products from Thailand and Korea to our supermarket shelves. There is also a selection of popular snacks from America and Australia to complete the international lineup.
The Refill Station was another hit with the bean, who had a blast scooping out gummies, nuts and treats. Being able to choose exactly how much we want is such a practical touch as it reduces wastage from pre-packed portions that we cannot finish.
FairPrice Finest Sembawang Shopping Centre’s Kopitiam Food Hall
On to the highlight of SSC’s FairPrice Finest – the Kopitiam Food Hall, comprising 14 stalls where FairPrice Group has assembled an eclectic mix of local and Asian cuisines.
Beloved Singapore classics like char kway teow (Seabay Delight), minced meat noodles (Xiang Chi Mian Ba Chor Mee) and roasted meats (Guan Chee Roasted Delights) share the stage with international cuisines, ensuring there is something to satisfy every craving.
The spotlight has got to be on Wu Da Lang, a hotpot restaurant from Chinatown making its first foray into Singapore’s food court scene.
We tried the double pot soup base with golden chicken soup and mala soup with accompanying ingredients. The golden chicken soup immediately invigorated our taste buds from the first mouthful with its deep flavour and comforting warmth.
Another unique item on their menu was the dragon fruit shrimp paste – a creative twist on the traditional version that introduced a different flavour dimension.
The bean picked out a grilled chicken chop and potato salad from Flint’s Specialty Grill, which was nicely seasoned and charred just right. The purple slaw that came with it was also tangy and appetising to complement the other flavours.
We also had the spicy miso fried rice from Kokoro Kiosuku. The fried rice was definitely different from what you’d find at a zi char stall, with a distinctive umami flavour from the miso.
The deep fried seabass with mango salad from Yuan Wei Thai Food was crispy on the outside yet tender within, and the mango salad provided a refreshing contrast to the fish.
Grocer Bar
To round off our trip, I had a drink from FairPrice Finest’s in-house Grocer Bar.
There are only five Grocer Bars across the island, with each location having specialised cocktails based on the neighbourhood.
The SSC outlet offers a Sembawang Shipyard Fizz Cocktail, Sembawang Gimlet Cocktail, and Good Ol’ Fashioned FairPrice Cocktail, each with flavours paying tribute to Sembawang’s history as a shipyard and pepper and pineapple plantation.
As we stepped out, the bean kept asking about our next visit, and I assured him that we would be back soon.
What could have been a routine grocery run felt more like a culinary adventure – whether you are craving hotpot, planning a weekend cooking spree, or just searching for that perfect avocado, SSC’s FairPrice Finest is the place to go.
