Tucked away at Excalibur Centre, in the industrial Ubi Crescent neighbourhood, Richman Dim Sum is a new dim sum spot that opened in May 2025. Founded by Chef Foo Wah Keng, a chef with 30 years of experience, Richman Dim Sum offers a variety of dim sum, including some unusual twists on well-known favourites.
Richman Dim Sum in Ubi
Richman Dim Sum is located on the ground floor at the same unit as the zi char chain Yang Ming Seafood.
To come up with dim sum recipes at Richman Dim Sum, Chef Food spent some time in Guangzhou, China in search of authentic and traditional Cantonese flavours. The dim sum is freshly house-made in order to provide diners with quality dishes.

We recently paid a visit to Richman Dim Sum to try out some of their dishes.
Dim Sum Dishes
Amongst the Chef’s Specials is the Crispy Popiah Rice Rolls ($6.80). This was one of our favourite dishes at Richman Dim Sum. Instead of the usual prawn or char siew filling, this dish had the soft rice rolls wrapped around radish popiah filling encased by a crispy crust. This made each bite a multi-textured mouthful.
For a similar bite, you can also try the Beetroot & Rice Crisps Rice Rolls ($7.80), a limited time special.
Another limited time special that you can find on the Richman Dim Sum menu is the Crispy Mushroom Snails ($5.80). This trio of “snails” are made with a swirly-looking pigs ear biscuit as its shell. Inside was a creamy, savoury filling.
Richman Dim Sum also offers the usual dim sum staples as well. However, they also offer a twist on these. We had the Mentaiko Shrimp Dumplings ($6.80) which came topped off with a dash of pink to contrast with the white har gow. These dumplings were on the smaller side but the skin was soft and delicate.
We opted to try the Muar Otak Siew Mai ($5.80) instead of the Hand-chopped Siew Mai ($4.80) and enjoyed the heat from the otak.
More Chef’s Signatures at Richman Dim Sum
Other Chef’s Signatures that we tried at Richman Dim Sum included the Baked Roasted Duck Bun ($6.80) and the Cantonese Dried Vegetables & Salted Pork Porridge ($3.80).
Just a note that if you are expecting the extremely smooth style of porridge which as been boiling away for hours, this is not it. However, the dried vegetables and salted pork gave it a nice flavour.
Other Dim Sum
Amongst the other varieties of dim sum at Richman Dim Sum is the Fresh Shrimp Crispy Beancurd Rolls ($4.80). This was a generously sized portion with crispy beancurd skin. We thought it would be well paired with some vinegar.
For a sweet ending, there was the Brown Sugar Caramel “Ma Lai” Cake ($4.80) and the Pandan Salted Egg Yolk Custard Buns ($5.80). We were hoping that custard buns would be the runny sort that would ooze out of the bun but these the variety that seemed more like thick custard.
Richman Dim Sum
Richman Dim Sum does a number of interesting takes on dim sum. We were only able to sample a few but there are more than 40 varieties available on the menu. It opens early from 7.30 am, making it suitable for dim sum early in the morning.
