
Located on Level 4 of Parkway Parade, the Sci-Fi Pop-up Library is a fully self-service library featuring close to 4,000 sci-fi books, graphic novels, and comics for readers of all ages, in collaboration with Parkway Parade.
The Sci-Fi Pop-up Library is also supported by The Imaginariad, an organisation dedicated to celebrating and preserving the legacy of science fiction and fantasy.

Designed with futuristic chrome walls and green-neon ambient lights, the pop-up library is a sleek portal that will transport readers right into their favourite sci-fi adventure.

Inside the Sci-Fi Pop-up Library, you will find an interactive eReads screen also allows patrons to easily borrow and read sci-fi eBooks on the go.
Explore a range of sci-fi sub genres at the exhibition, such as space opera, dystopian worlds, and cyberpunk, while deepening an appreciation of the stories that inspired these works.
The collection will progressively be expanded over time.
Beyond Books

You can also dive deeper into the sci-fi universe with a sci-fi themed exhibition curated with support from The Imaginariad.
The first exhibition housed within an NLB pop-up library, discover original paintings used on sci-fi book covers, such as The Icarus Twin by Timothy Zahn and The Drowned World by J.G. Ballard, alongside thematic artworks and figures inspired by books from the pop-up library’s collection.
Patrons will also have the chance to discover how the sci-fi genre took off in Singapore and explore books by Singapore sci-fi authors, such as Judith Huang and Vivian Teo.
Highlights include a BiblioAsia article on “Sci-Fi in Singapore: 1970s to 1990s”, a look at the iconic local sci-fi comic The Amazing Adventures of Captain V, and exploring books by Singapore sci-fi authors, such as Judith Huang and Vivian Teo.
Other illustrations on display at the pop-up’s exhibition include visions of future Singapore in 2126 created by The Imaginariad in collaboration with artist Kristal Melson.
There will also be StoryGen, where patrons can discover well-loved stories using Generative AI and see how these stories come alive in an immersive visual experience.
Visiting the Sci-Fi pop-up library

To enter the Sci-Fi pop-up library, patrons may scan their library-compliant ID card, NLB eCard or request for a QR code day pass. Patrons can then browse and borrow books using the NLB Mobile app.
The Sci-Fi pop-up library will run from 14 May 2026 to 11 April 2027, 10 am to 10 pm daily.

In addition, NLB is opening new Sit-n-Read Nodes at Century Square, City Sprouts Bedok1, and The Cove at Waterway Point.
These join the existing network of Sit-n-Read Nodes at AMK Hub, Margaret Market, SAFRA Punggol, SAFRA Yishun, The Caffeine Experience at The URA Centre, The Centrepoint, and The Star Vista.
