i Light Singapore 2025 is organised by the Urban Redevelopment Board and presented by UOB.
The theme for i Light Singapore 2025 is “To Gather”. And, each year, the festival picks a colour from visible light spectrum to symbolise the ways of seeing and understanding the world. This year, the colour is red and this ties in nicely with it being SG60 – so expect to see a lot of red around the festival.
In fact, key buildings and bridges around the Marina Bay have come together to glow in a red hue from 7.30 pm to 11 pm on festival nights (till midnight on Fridays and Saturdays), complementing the light art installations and literally painting the town red!
5 Useful Must-knows If You’re Planning to Visit i Light Singapore
1. i Light Singapore 2025 Light Installations: No Need to Power Through Them in One Go
There are a total of 17 light installations by 20 artists at i Light Singapore 2025. Many of these are interactive and invite people to create art and sound together – in line with the theme of “To Gather”.
As it is with each year, the majority light installations are laid out around Marina Bay.
However, this year, there are also a cluster of light installations at Raffles Place Par, UOB Plaza and at the Cavenagh Bridge.
There is also another cluster of two installations at South Beach along Beach Road.
If you want to see all the light installations on foot, starting from Raffles Place Park to Boat Quay to the Marina Bay and around it to the Helix Bridge, you can expect to cover around 2.5 km. This will take you around an hour plus, especially if you are stopping to view the light installations.
Just a walk around light installations at the Marina Bay will already cover a distance of about 1.8 km.
Therefore, if you are planning to visit the i Light Singapore light installations on foot, wear comfortable footwear.
Also, you also do not need to view the light installations in one evening. If you want to, you can view them on separate evenings instead.
For example, we would group the three installations at Raffles Place and along the Singapore River together. These installations will be on display till 20 July 2025. Therefore, you can view them even after the main i Light Singapore period is over.
This is where the majority of the light installations can be found around the Marina Bay. This is another cluster of installations that you can do together.
The third cluster of two installations is located at South Beach.
2. Top Most Interactive Installations at i Light Singapore 2025
We appreciate the hard work and talents of the artists in coming up with the various art installations. After having visited them, here are what we think are the most interactive installations along the trail. These are especially great to visit with friends, family and kids.
a. Mozart
Steps near the Helix Bridge
Mozart features a deconstructed grand piano that has been reassembled into an abstract white sphere suspended above an open staircase. Each step on the staircase functions as a piano key, producing light and sound when activated by footsteps of passers-by.
For more musical fun, head over to Piano Walk at the Marina Bay Sands Event Space which also features a larger-than-life circular piano that is activated by people stepping on it.
b. Embrace
At the Event Square near the Red Dot Museum
This light installation is inspired by children’s paper chains – the type that you used to make by folding a sheet of paper and cutting out shapes. The life-sized silhouettes come alive when you touch them. Join the chain and watch the installation come alive with light and sound. It is a playful installation for both kids and adults.
c. VJYOURSELF!
At the entrance of Marina Bay Link Mall
VJYOURSELF! acts like a magic mirror – one where you can have fun letting loose and creating some fun images. Step into the camera capture are and show off your best dance moves. These are then used to create a sequence of motion. You can move and create your own special choreography on your own, or better yet, join with others to create a montage of motion!
d. SAULUX
Fountain Plaza, South Beach Avenue
What looks like a cluster of reeds is actually an interactive art installation. When the breeze moves the reeds or if you gentle run your hands on it, there are sensors that detect the motion and the art work gives off a warm glow. The name of the installation comes from two words, saule, meaning willow, and lux which means light.
e. Take a Walk Through the Meadow with Me
At the Lawn next to the NTUC Building
This is an immersive, interactive installation by Singaporean artists Megan Tan and Tan Shao Xuan that responds to movement and human presence. As you approach the artwork, the flowers begin to glow and music follows. As more people gather, more lights appear, and melodic notes play in tandem. It is an experience in collective being as the sensory experience intensifies with a crowd.
On 31 May and 7 June, 6 pm and 7.30 pm, there will also be a hands-on workshop for participants to create a unique accessory using the unused materials from the installation. This workshop is priced at $3 per person and an interactive way to bring home a piece of i Light 2025.
3. You Can View the Installations from the Water (2 Ways!)
