Singapore’s Chinatown is known for its vibrant streets, bustling markets, and rich cultural history. Now, there is a new way to explore this iconic district: Chinatown Chaos, an immersive urban race that blends puzzles, teamwork, and local heritage.
Officially designed for groups of friends or family, this interactive experience allows participants to uncover hidden stories from Singapore’s past while keeping active and engaged.
The Plot of Chinatown Chaos
Chinatown Chaos takes participants on a journey back to early Singapore, when immigrants from different communities came together to build a new nation.

Framed as a race through time, the adventure uses puzzles and challenges to highlight the resilience and collaboration that defined this era.
Guided by the game’s mascot, Ollie, teams work together to navigate the streets, uncover clues, and solve tasks that bring the diverse cultures and histories of Chinatown to life.
More than just a puzzle hunt, it blends fun with learning, making it a meaningful activity for families who want an experience that is both engaging and educational. Chinatown Chaos also doubles as an active day out, making it a practical way to get steps in while exploring the city.
How the Puzzle Hunt Works
The race is designed to be accessible for a wide age range, with puzzles that are structured in clear, manageable steps.
At each stop, participants begin by identifying a keyword linked to the location. This is followed by solving the associated puzzle before submitting the answer and scratching it off the answer sheet.
To keep things engaging, players are encouraged to use all the tools provided in their game pack, including the map, their phones, and their surroundings, to uncover the solutions.
This blend of physical clues and real-world observation ensures that the experience remains interactive and varied, without becoming overwhelming.
Exploring the Sights of Chinatown
Every stop along the Chinatown Chaos route reveals a different layer of the district’s cultural fabric. Participants might pause at temples, mosques, and other places of worship that highlight the multireligious nature of the area, or wander past markets and historic landmarks such as the Maxwell district.
Murals scattered throughout Chinatown also provide moments to appreciate local creativity and storytelling. Each location pairs a puzzle with a piece of heritage, making the activity both entertaining and educational, and deepening the connection to the area’s history.
The experience runs for about two hours and takes place every Saturday from 1 September 2025, between 10 am and 2 pm. Groups of six or more have the option of arranging a private session, offering flexibility for those planning special occasions or team-building activities.
This adaptability makes Chinatown Chaos appealing to a wide range of participants. Families can enjoy it as a shared weekend activity, while larger groups of friends can treat it as a lively day out. The balance of fun and learning ensures that the experience feels both inclusive and memorable, whatever the occasion.
Adding a Flavour of Singapore to the Trail
As part of Chinatown Chaos, participants receive a complimentary Killiney Kaya Butter Toast set. This includes two slices of kaya butter toast, two soft-boiled eggs, and a choice of drink such as kopi, teh, or an iced local option.
Including a traditional breakfast element gives the activity a familiar local touch and offers a simple way to pause and recharge during the trail.
Redeemable with SG Culture Pass Credits
Another advantage of Chinatown Chaos is that it can be redeemed using SG Culture Pass credits. This adds a practical layer for local participants who want to use their credits for a meaningful activity. Combining accessibility with cultural education makes the event both convenient and enriching.
