The British Council’s Holiday Study Camps are an opportunity for your child to explore the world beyond English and develop the 21st century competencies needed for academic and future success.
The Holiday Study Camps use English as a way to explore the world around us, developing problem solving, collaboration, critical thinking and creativity.
Each week, learners explore a different theme while developing their written or spoken communication skills. Through these exciting topics, learners build their knowledge of the world around them and ignite their love of learning.
Camps are available for Early Years, Primary and Secondary-aged learners.

Early Years (K1 to K2)
Camps are Monday to Friday, 9 am to 1 pm.

Fairy tales and animal stories will be the source of children’s reading as they explore magical worlds to build their reading confidence. |
29 Nov to 3 Dec | Read all about it: A Phonics and Literacy Course |
Interactive, engaging and phonics focused, this reading-focused week will combine phonics, writing and comprehension skills with exciting topics. |
6 to 10 Dec | The Write Future: A Writing Skills Course |
Children will dive into a story while learning about word classes, exciting vocabulary, and plot. They’ll interact with a model text by acting it out, describing characters, and creating story maps. |
13 to 17 Dec | Act it Out: A Storytelling and Drama Skills Week |
Children will get to express their creative side through an Act it Out programme. They’ll have the opportunity to learn about characterisation, telling stories and props as they practise a short play. |

Camps are Monday to Friday, 9 am to 1 pm. Children will be grouped into P1 & P2, P3 & P4, and P5 & P6.

Primary-aged learners will get to build their confidence by sharing their ideas and opinions, persuading their classmates, and telling stories. They’ll practise reading aloud with feeling, interactive speaking skills, presentations, and using language to convince. |
29 Nov to 3 Dec | Write All About it: A Writing Skills Course |
Producing different texts to create a Study Camp magazine is the theme of this writing skills week. Learners will focus on different fictional or non-fiction writing text including poems, stories, informative and personal recounts, letters, and articles. |
6 to 10 Dec | The Write Way Forward: A Writing Skills Course |
Problem solving and future thinking is the theme of this writing skills week. Learners will focus on non-fiction texts to develop the skills they’ll need for their future writing success and have to demonstrate their understanding of issues. |
13 to 17 Dec | Act it Out: A Storytelling and Drama Skills Week |
P1 to P4 learners will explore plots, dialogue, characterisation, and presentations as they develop, rehearse and perform a short scene or play. P5 & P6 learners will explore their reading aloud, anecdote and factual presentation skills as they work towards developing a dialogue to rehearse and perform. |

Secondary
Camps are Monday to Friday, 1.30 pm to 5.30 pm.

Learners will pick up techniques to evaluate and understand fiction and non-fiction texts while reading about people who have faced challenging situations. The texts will provide learners with language, ideas generation and organisational skills needed to produce short responses to readings. |
29 Nov to 3 Dec | The Write Time: An Essay Writing Course |
Learners will develop their essay writing skills in this interactive course. They will explore different parts of effective essay writing, from introductions, hooks and paragraph structure to counter arguments, hedging and conclusions. |
6 to 10 Dec | Persuade Me: A Debating and Presentation Skills Course |
This persuasion-themed week will help learners create compelling and logically organised speeches, essays, and discussions. It will cover different techniques used to politely agree, disagree, and share opinions, learners will gain confidence in expressing and elaborating on their ideas. |
13 to 17 Dec | Summarise This! A Summary, Problem-solving Course |
Learners will use their summarising and presentation skills to investigate and share solutions with their classmates. Using a combination of research skills, critical thinking, and creativity, they’ll collaborate to come up with an innovative solution to a hot-button issue. |
