Just a two-hour flight from Singapore, Bangkok has long been a favourite destination for short getaways. I used to hesitate about going to Bangkok with kids, assuming the city was mostly known for its budget shopping and massage parlours. But I couldn’t have been more wrong!
The Kid-Friendly Bangkok You Never Knew Existed
To my surprise, Bangkok offers a wide range of kid-friendly attractions that I had never considered.
Our six day five night trip in December 2024 completely changed my perspective and shattered the myth — I now see Bangkok in a whole new light as a parent.
Famiy-Friendly Hotel – The Berkeley Hotel Pratunam
Our choice of accommodation was The Berkeley Hotel Pratunam
Address: 559 Ratchaprarop Rd, Makkasan, Ratchathewi, Bangkok 10400, Thailand
OPEN HOUSE: Discover first-hand the British Council’s teaching methods and meet their approachable Academic team on 14 & 21 June
GIVEAWAY: Stand a Chance to Win S$100 iShopChangi Vouchers
Nestled in the heart of Bangkok shopping district, it’s just a short walk to popular spots like pratunam, platinum mall, Big C supermarket building and CentralWorld shopping mall.
What really drew us to The Berkeley Hotel was their family-friendly room
options—something not every hotel offers.
Families of four can stay in the Premier Family Room, which has two beds, while larger families (up to six people!) can opt for the Premier Family Bunk Bedroom.
These room types are a lifesaver, especially if you have a tween who’s outgrown sharing a king-size bed. Plus, the rooms are super spacious—no tripping over luggage!
The hotel also features a fun kid’s corner, complete with video games, a pool table, and a foosball table — great for kids of all ages. We actually spent most of our mornings just enjoying the hotel’s family-friendly amenities before heading out to explore.
6D5N Itinerary in Bangkok with Kids
Day 1: Centralworld & BigC
Arrival day called for a slow, easy evening close to our hotel. I’d always heard Big C was a tourist hotspot for bulk snack shopping, but I hadn’t realized there was so much more to discover inside the mall.
We picked up some bath bombs from a shop near the entrance by the link bridge. Just a tip: only grab what you need for the night, as Chatuchak offers similar bath bombs for nearly half the price.
Moshi Moshi is a lifestyle retail shop inspired by Japanese aesthetics, offering a wide range of affordable items—from stationery and home goods to fashion accessories, plush toys and stickers.
We stopped by to restock our 2B pencil leads for school and ended up picking up some pretty pens, fun sticker sheets for downtime play, and an adorable birthday candle to celebrate a special occasion.
It’s definitely a place that brings a sparkle to the kids’ eyes—and maybe even the mom’s too!

EVEANDBOY, in my opinion, dubbed the local Sephora, is part of Thailand’s leading beauty retail chain, offering an impressive selection of cosmetics, skincare, hair care and fragrances, all at wallet-friendly prices.
From cult-favourite international names like MAC, Bobbi Brown, and Urban Decay to exclusive Asian beauty gems such as Espoir and Mamonde, there’s something for every beauty enthusiast.
I used to wonder how locals manage to keep their makeup flawless in Thailand’s sweltering heat—turns out, the answer lies in local brands like Srichand, known for its long-lasting, sweat-resistant formulas.
Some hidden treasures I picked up this trip: the Melinda dewy liquid blush and highlighter, Merrez’ca Skin Up liquid foundation, and Naree Lip Blur. Whether you’re a busy mom juggling errands or just indulging in a little self-care, this store is guaranteed to bring a spark of joy to your day.

Day 2: Chatuchak & Children’s Discovery Museum
Fancy getting to Chatuchak with minimal walking under the scorching sun? Here’s a parent-approved route:
If you’re starting near CentralWorld, take the BTS Green Line to Mo Chit station. Then, cross the link bridge to the MRT Chatuchak Park (Blue Line), ride 1 stop, and get off at Kamphaeng Phet Station. Take Exit 2, and you’ll land right in the fashion zone of Chatuchak—no long outdoor walks needed!
We shopped leftward toward a building marked “Foodcourt 3FL” for a cool lunch break. One of us took the kids to eat while the other speed-shops, then we swap.
On our last visit, we discovered a total game-changer: the Children’s Discovery Museum just across from the building! Entry is free (1 passport registers everyone).. Just a heads-up: the museum closes at 4pm, so plan accordingly.
The museum features an indoor zone with interactive exhibits, a 4D cinema, and a padded play area with seating for tired parents. Outside, there’s a splash park, sandpit, and playgrounds for all ages.
This hidden gem completely transformed our Chatuchak experience as parents. It’s a rare find that lets both kids and grown-ups enjoy the outing in their own way.

Day 3: Pratunam Shopping & YoYo Land Indoor Theme Park
Situated inside Seacon Square shopping mall, this indoor amusement park boasts a variety of attractions suitable for children aged 3 to 12 years old.
My child, who measures slightly above 100 cm, could take 90% of the rides, including the roller coaster!
The park features multiple themed areas paired with VR experiential area, laser maze, pirate ship, ferris wheel, and a host of rides and games.
There are two colourful padded indoor playgrounds equipped with slides, ball pools and climbing facilities, ideal for young children who prefer expending energies rather than being stimulated in rides.
Admission to YoYo Land is estimated at S$12-13 per person for all-day play, available at klook or trip.com.

If you’re traveling with a special occasion in mind, consider treating your family to a dinner buffet—without breaking the bank. Apps like Eatigo offer discounts up to 50%, depending on the restaurant and time slot.
We celebrated ours at Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park, where the kids were thrilled with unlimited desserts (a rare treat reserved for celebrations), while the adults enjoyed a lavish buffet spread.
The service was outstanding — from helping me charge my phone to going the extra mile when we requested a candle for our cake. They surprised us with a guitar serenade and birthday song, making the moment even more special.
It was the perfect, heartwarming way to end our day.

Day 4: Safari World Bangkok
An hour’s drive away from Centralworld, the Safari World Bangkok comprises two main sections: the Safari Park and the Marine Park.
The Safari Park offers a unique, drive-through experience in an open-air zoo where animals roam freely in naturalistic enclosures.
We toured the park in an air-conditioned coach that comes with our Klook package, other visitors were seen in a caged-like vehicle, adding to the safari vibe.
The Marine Park is more in line with a traditional zoo, featuring animal exhibits, live shows, and feeding sessions. One thing that surprised us: outside snacks and drinks—including
kids’ water bottles — aren’t allowed. We were advised to leave them on the coach or store them at the designated entrance point.
If you’ve got a little one who’s obsessed with Baby Shark, he will be thrilled to meet the Pink Fong mascots at the live show.
We also joined several animal feeding sessions (giraffes, ponies, and capybaras), each priced around 100THB, with no strict time slots.

Our coach departed the park around 5pm. The ride back to the city took a bit longer due to traffic. We booked the whole experience via Klook, with an option to include a lunch buffet.
The kids dozed off on the ride back from the zoo and woke up just as we arrived at CentralWorld. We headed straight for Thong Smith, a much-talked-about Thai boat noodle spot that transforms the traditional street food into a gourmet experience.
Right outside the restaurant, we were pleasantly surprised to find a metal play structure for kids — perfect for keeping them entertained while we waited. There were even benches for parents, making the wait more comfortable. Although the place was bustling, our turn came up in just 15 minutes, much faster than expected.
Inside, the restaurant offers a wide variety of premium beef and pork noodle dishes, all served in a sleek setting with dark wood accents and a rustic-chic vibe. A perfect spot to wrap up a day of adventure with a hearty, satisfying meal.

CentralWorld, 3rd Floor, Beacon Zone, Rama 1 Road, Pathum Wan, Bangkok
Just a 5 minute walk leftwards towards Din Tai Feng, you’ll spot a luxurious-looking tea hut – Karun Thai Tea. This premium Thai milk tea brand puts a refined spin on the classic cha yen, and it doesn’t disappoint.
While we skipped the more adventurous flavors, their signature Thai milk tea alone was nough to impress. Topped with delicate gold flakes, each sip felt like a little indulgence. At 95THB for a large cup, it’s a treat well worth trying.
Tip: go for 40% sweetness, or 25% if you prefer a bolder tea taste.
Day 5: Mega HarborLand
Mega Harborland is touted as Bangkok’s largest indoor family playground. I got lost while trying to look for the skyrider, and each wrong turn led us to more discoveries.
The place is massive, it took me nearly 1.5 hours just to get my bearings! With dedicated zones for toddlers, preschoolers, and tweens, there’s something for every age. Expect a mix of guided video games, rodeo rides, inflatable castles, sports arenas, thrill rides, and a fleet of speedy slides.
A word of advice: wear long pants and perhaps long sleeves to avoid scrapes and abrasions on the fast slides. Anti-slip socks are mandatory for both kids and adults.

Day 6: Platinum Mall and December Mall
The kids made the most of the hotel facilities one last time, while I squeezed in a final shopping spree at Platinum Mall and December Mall, conveniently located side by side, before we headed back to Singapore.
Our recent trip to Bangkok was nothing short of amazing. Even with 6 days and 5 nights, there were still places on my list left unexplored! Hopefully, this travel log gives you some helpful tips and inspiration for planning your next Bangkok adventure with your family!
