Visiting Caldecott Broadcast Centre During SHF 2017: What to See and Do

Explore Caldecott Broadcast Centre, which until recently was at the centre of Singapore’s radio and television broadcasting industry, as part of Singapore Heritage Festival 2017.

For two weekends, the public will be able to step into the otherwise restricted location and explore less-well known facets of the broadcast industry and local productions.

Relive the memories of local comedies and tear-jerking dramas as you visit the Film Studios, Props Stores and other behind-the-scenes locations around the iconic Caldecott Broadcasting Centre.

Here is a day-by-day rundown of what you can look forward at the Caldecott Broadcast Centre during the Singapore Heritage Festival 2017.

Friday, 28 April

TV50 Exhibition at Caldecott Broadcast Centre

Throughout Festival Hours: TV50 Exhibition – Trace the progress of Singapore’s broadcasting history and have a look into the future of television.

Throughout Festival Hours: Lip Sync Your Heart Out – Jump in front of a green screen, belt out your favourite theme song from local drama serials and receive a video keepsake of your Caldecott Hill performance.

Throughout Festival Hours: Festival Village – Relax with food and drinks at the Festival Village. There will be a flea market, vintage-themed playground and a throwback concerts to keep you entertained.

6 pm to 10 pm: From Aksi Mat Yoyo to The Awakening and back again – A video installation by Brian Gothong Tan with screening snippets from well-loved productions from yesteryear.

6 pm to 10 pm: Reruns Cinema – Relive your favourite scenes from local drama serials, cheer on trivia game show contestants and enjoy laughs with well-loved sitcoms at nightly screenings.

6 pm to 10 pm: Video DJ: Pop Rules – Make a song dedication or just party away with music from different eras of pop culture.

6.15 pm to 6.45 pm: Island Stories – Untold Stories of Sisters Islands and Kusu Island – Presented as a live radio play, discover the stories of Singapore’s offshore islands and how sound effects are made live on stage.

6.30 pm to 7.30 pm: Walking Caldecott – Discover the different sites around Caldecott Broadcast Centre with Mediacorp artistes and industry staff as guides. Limited to 25 persons per tour and registration opening half-an-hour before the start of the tour.

7 pm to 7.30 pm; 8.30 pm to 9 pm: Studio 6 – Enjoy a performance piece that revisits iconic stories and characters by theatre company Sweet Tooth by Cake.

7.30 pm to 8 pm; 9 pm to 930 pm: Fat Kids Are Harder to Kidnap – Entertaining audiences with whacky takes on current affairs, this edition of Fat Kids will feature 20 play in 30 minutes.

Getting to Caldecott Broadcast Centre During SHF 2017

The Entrance to SHF2017 @ Caldecott Broadcast Centre is via the Old Main Gate along Olive Road.

Map of SHF 2017 at Caldecott Broadcast CentreFree shuttle bus services will run to Caldecott Broadcast Centre from Caldecott MRT Station Exit B, Bishan MRT Station Exit A and MacRitchie Reservoir Park Car Park.

On 28 April, 5 May and 6 May, the first bus departs at 5.30 pm and the last bus departs at 9.30 pm. On 29 and 30 April, the first bus departs at 3.30 pm and the last bus departs at 9.30 pm. On 1 and 7 May, the first bus departs at 9.30 am and the last bus departs at 1.30 pm. Timings are subject to traffic and weather conditions.
