I was convinced that Tofu Gelato is probably similar to the ubiquitous soya ice cream soft serve sold by a bean shaped gentleman. I doubted that “Korean Premium Gelato Ice Cream” crafted with tofu at Tofu G could be much better, right?
Tofu G Korean Premium Ice Cream: High Protein, Low Fat Gelatos
Before I went down to Tofu G, I did my research, noting that all their gelato flavours are gluten-free, their top three best-selling gelatos, the Signature Tofu Gelato, High-Protein Tofu Gelato, and Black Sesame Gelato are fully vegan-friendly and dairy-free.
Furthermore, confronted by more than 1400 google reviews and 4.8 stars, I had to admit that there may be something to Tofu G and I was eager to head down to try it!
Huayi – Chinese Festival of Arts 2026: Family Fun at the Esplanade till 8 March
Taste Test: Surprisingly Good!
To my palate (with possibly with a little bias because of their healthy, high protein, low fat options), Tofu G gelatos were as enjoyable as some of the other very popular gelato shops right now!
Mandarin Gallery Tofu G Outlet
I visited the Mandarin Gallery outlet, where the very friendly and helpful assistant at the counter happily plied me with samples of every flavour, including their seasonal flavours, Strawberry and Tangerine Gelato and six signature flavours.
It got busy really quickly as diners headed there after their lunch nearby, but the service never faltered and soon I was seated next door in a lovely sitting area, enjoying my gelato. You can also visit their Takashimaya branch!
The Original and the High Protein
The Original Tofu was silky smooth, with a rich, nutty soy flavour and very enjoyable. The high protein version was dialed up in terms of flavour, with extra soy protein that added a savouriness that made a significant difference in flavour but not affecting its texture.
It was my favourite – simple, not-too-sweet, delicious and full of muscle-building proteins.
Other Flavours
The black sesame and pistachio flavours were also very memorable, the nuttiness of the sesame and pistachio were elevated by that of the Tofu/Soy and were absolutely as good as or better than many versions out in the wild.
If like me, you are extremely susceptible to hype and novelty, you should also try their seasonal flavours (Strawberry and Tangerine) which hit the spot as well with their tangy and vibrant flavours adding a twist to the creamy tofu gelato.
Tofu G Review
As a soy-product lover (Soy milk, Tau huay, Tofu, Miso, Edamame, etc.), Tofu G has added Tofu gelato to the list. It may be a little pricey, at $8 a scoop, but when I need a hit of soy and it being probably quite good for me, I will be back.
