Punggol Digital District Playground: Elevated Village for Kids
Approaching the Punggol Digital District playground, which is designed for kids between the ages of 2 and 5, you will be immediately drawn to the elevated play structure.
A series of log stepping stones lead towards this play structure from two sides.
The play structure consists of several platforms, interconnected by bridges and passageways. It feels like a kelong or fishing village where kids can move about and explore.
At one end of the elevated play structure, there is a hut. Inside, there is a play pretend stove top along with seats and a table where kids can pretend to dine.
At the other end of the elevated play structure, there is a platform with a pulley system where kids can hoist up items from below.
Just beside the pulley is a long funnel that channels things down a tube to the ground below.
To get from platform to platform, kids can make their way across multiple, fun bridges.
They can make their way up and down along an undulating bridge. Or cross a cargo net bridge. Or duck and crawl through a tunnel.
Or, for a bit of challenge, kids can take their time to step across a series of suspended planks that form another bridge. They can also use all four limbs to traverse across a suspended cargo net.
Together, the platforms and bridges create a mini village where kids can play pretend and have fun exploring.
Swings and More at the Punggol Coast Hawker Centre Playground
But there’s more at the Punggol Digital District playground just beside the Punggol Coast Hawker Centre.
There are swings for kids to enjoy too! The swings are set very low so that they are more suitable for young children.
Up to four kids can also hop on board a four-way rocker and have some fun swaying back and forth together.
There are also tactile play panels that kids can explore as well.
One of these panels stands out because it features three wooden ramps. Here’s a tip. Bring along a small ball around the size of a ping pong ball with you when you visit this Punggol Digital District playground because the wooden ramps at this play panel are designed to accommodate such a ball.
Release the ball at the top of the ramp and watch as it races downwards, switching from ramp to ramp.
Just beside the playground, there is a little slope that kids can also climb to get a nice view of the surroundings, amidst the landscaping that looks like giant potted plants.
