Virtual Site Tour of the Emerson Plant Tour

At the National Engineers Day 2020, participants will get a chance to go on a virtual tour to the Emerson Plant Tour. On this educational site tour, participants will see a life-like replica of a live process manufacturing facility, simulating the processes of a typical plant. Discover the digital solutions involved for process control and new industrial IoT applications like data analytics, virtual and augmented reality.

Free Workshops at National Engineers Day 2020

sketching

This year there are eight free workshops to sign up for, all exploring a different aspect of Engineering. Participants can take part in the “Uncovering the Dyson Design Process Through Rapid Prototyping” workshop conducted by the James Dyson Foundation. The 90-minute session will lead students through the Dyson design process: brainstorming, sketching, constructing prototypes and presenting their ideas – just like how an engineer working in Dyson will do it.

Students also have to ensure not to miss the F1 in Schools Race Experience! Suitable for students aged 11 to 19 years old, design and manufacture the fastest car possible by following design processes similar to Formula One cars, then, race it along a 20-metre track!

3D printing

Conference participants can also take part in an introductory workshop on 3D design and printing to learn about the basic processes of ideas into 3D objects. Using Tinkercad, a free cloud-based CAD software, participants will design and create personal 3D models, and eventually, print them out on a 3D printer.
