DesignTinkers recognise the child’s unique ways of seeing the world. Its programmes instil critical thinking at an early age, exposing children to design concepts, principles and aesthetics. Young ones learn about the design process as a methodology to problem solve and are encouraged to be creative in finding solutions.
DesignTinkers Year-End 2021 Holiday Workshops
For the 2021 year-end holidays, DesignTinkers has a series of fun and nurturing camps and workshops across various disciplines in Art, Design & Architecture. Programmes are designed to pique curiosity, prompt inquiries, challenge norms and to test ideas to get to unique outcomes through a design process.
At the holiday programmes, they will learn to take a solution-based approach in their creations, focusing on who they are designing for and responding to the user’s needs and challenges. Children will also be encouraged to re-think, reuse, recycle and repurpose common materials from daily lives for their creations.

Peranakan History, Traditions and Architecture
Children will learn all things Peranakan through a highly interactive sharing by award-winning Peranakan museum owner and collector, Alvin Yapp from The Intan followed by introduction to the architectural Shophouse typology by DesignTinkers.
Viewing through the lens of Peranakan art, culture and design, children will translate their artistic inspirations onto ceramic tile painting and hands-on model-making of a shophouse building.

DesignTinkers 3-Day Holiday Workshop: Re-imagining Communal Play + Space
A project-based workshop where children can explore what makes a playground space fun and memorable.
Working in groups, children are encouraged to be creative in their findings as they apply Design Thinking principles in understanding the needs and challenges of who they are designing for.
Children will also be exploring types of structural framing systems that could be introduced as key features in their playground design; as they brainstorm and get hands-on in the design, making and building of their ultimate dream playground.

Design & Architecture 5-Day Holiday Camp
Get creative to design & build! A week long basic introduction to Design & Architectural Principles for children.
At the start of the camp week, children will get to work in pairs/ small teams to build a life-size structure.
The children will also be introduced to the concept of Modules in Design. They will get creative with everyday objects to design their own unique modules before transforming it into a replicable system to form larger and infinite designs. We are excited to test the infinite module design possibilities together and they will be delighted to take home their own unique creations!
DesignTinkersKidz will progress in the week to create their individual home designs. They will learn the basics of model making and they will be so proud to go home with a prototype of their home design. They shall have a fabulous time exploring and testing their ideas; materialising them in 3D!
