The 16th Asian Festival of Children’s Content is back and will take place from 22 to 25 May 2025, at the National Library Building. This year, the theme of AFCC 2025 is “Discovery” and you can expect over 100 programmes by over 60 speakers.
Asian Festival of Children’s Content 2025: A Celebration of Children’s Stories & Young Adult Fiction
Embark on a journey at the festival to discover a universe of multicultural children’s literature. Learn about the emotional power of Asian stories; unpack the issues and topics that children’s books face today; and engage in imaginative play that awakens all the different senses.
This year, the country of focus (COF) is South Korea.

Hear from writers and practitioners from South Korea and other countries as they share about developing impactful textual and visual narratives using various tools and technologies; igniting the joy and passion for reading; building literacies in a multilingual environment; as well as understanding diverse cultures through translation.
Programmes at AFCC 2025
AFCC’s series of exciting programmes promote the creation and appreciation of quality children’s literature with a focus on Asian themes. These programmes include:
- panel discussions;
- presentations;
- workshops;
- lectures;
- storytelling sessions; and
- book launches.
Targeted at writers, illustrators, translators, publishers, educators and media professionals, the festival also includes free, family-friendly public programmes.
Here is a sample of the programmes at AFCC 2025:
- Dokkaebi’s Magic Club – This interactive storytelling session for young families will bring the Korean folktale “Dokkaebi’s Magic Club” to life with playful movement, chants, and audience participation.
- These Books Are Made by Humans: Celebrating Human Creativity in an AI Age – This panel session will focus on how the heart and soul of storytelling remains rooted in the human experience.
- Bringing Our Books to Our Children – Hear from authors about their experiences conducting programmes for children and the creative ways they engage young readers.
- How to Create A Picture Book – Illustrator Park Hyunmin will be conducting a workshop on how to bring your picture book vision to life.
There will also be book launches by authors Arshiya Jhunjhnuwala, Ames Chen and others, and publishers like BriBooks and Armour Publishing.
