A Christmas dinner somewhere far from the holiday crowds? Our destination – Dusit Thani Laguna Singapore, a beautiful hotel located within the grounds of the acclaimed Laguna National Golf Resort Club, 10 minutes by car from Singapore Changi Airport and 15 minutes from downtown.
It may not have been great weather for the golfers but the Laguna National Golf Resort Club and Dusit Thani Laguna Singapore glowed beautifully against the brooding, stormy skyline.
Greenhouse’s Passport to Christmas: Festive Buffet
We were there because Dusit Thani Laguna Singapore unveiled its upcoming Christmas themed festive buffet – Greenhouse’s Passport to Christmas: Festive Buffet. Two dining sessions have been planned, Christmas Eve Dinner and Christmas Day Brunch.

Highlights of Christmas Festive Buffet
This media showcase offered a curated glimpse of what diners can expect during the Festive Buffet. While not every station from the usual buffet was on display and available that day, the highlights were more than enough to paint a picture of the festive spread to come.
Carving Station
Greenhouse started us off with Honey Baked Ham and a Roasted Turkey, which was carved at the live station. The turkey was quite moist and flavourful, and the ham was also nice, moist and soft with the various mustards and condiments.
Seafood at various Stations and Kitchens
Be prepared to fill up on the variety of seafood on offer! Seafood on ice, with snow crab legs, prawns, lobster tails and slipper lobsters. The Japanese Kitchen section will also have the staples of sashimi and sushi.
The Snowman and Christmas Tree Sushi were cute to look at, but they were really more for festive decoration. A slice of cucumber stuck onto two balls of rice with a smear of mayonnaise did not make the cut to fill my stomach. The fried chicken on the other hand was surprisingly good and I personally had more than I should have.
Western Kitchen
Amongst the cooked food section, the Lobster Mac and Cheese as well as the slow roasted beef ribs were standouts.
There will also be a Lobster grill station with choice of Thermidor, Curry Butter or Truffle Cream. We found the texture of the Lobster in Truffle Cream to be a bit on the soft side, but the rest were fine.
Thai Kitchen
We were expecting more offerings from the Thai Kitchen during the showcase but despite being the only one we got to try, the Turkey Khao Soi was Aroi Mak! The warmth and aroma of the spices in the curry was evident and held in balance savoury, salty, sour and sweet flavours.
Now bring us some Figgy Pudding
For dessert, we were treated to a Traditional Christmas Pudding as well as some cakes that are available as Festive Takeaways at Dusit Gourmet.
The Christmas Pudding with rum sauce was packed with the dried fruits and flavoured with the unmistakable fragrance of the festive spices such as nutmeg and cinnamon. The rum sauce added a buttery sweetness. This is what Christmas “tasted” like since so many years ago.
I was excited to try the Log Cakes and they did not disappoint! The Hazelnut Chocolate Yule Log Cake, Mango Passion Fruit Yule Log Cake and Mixed Berries Pinecone were delightful.

Overall I enjoyed my evening at Greenhouse, Dusit Thani Laguna Singapore and looking at the extensive menu planned for the Festive Buffet, it may indeed be a worthy choice for your Christmas Eve or Christmas Day meal.
