DesignTinkers provide fun & nurturing workshops in Art, Design & Architecture; These are designed to pique curiosity, prompt inquiries, challenge norms, investigate, test ideas and get to unique outcomes through a Design process.
DesignTinkers recognises the child’s unique ways of seeing the world. We want them to remain inquisitive of what works and what does not in their environment; instilling critical thinking at an early age. By exposing children to design ideas, concepts and aesthetics, we introduce the Design thinking process as a way to problem solve and be creative in finding solutions.
DesignTinkers provides opportunities for children to collaborate in teams, foster learning through tinkering with open-ended materials to stretch their creativity. There will be no instruction manuals to follow, no tests to score, no exams to conquer and no screen time. DesignTinkersKidz are free to make mistakes, learn from them and through this process develop their creative abilities and confidence.

Design + Architecture 5 Half-day Holiday Camp
Let’s get creative to design & build! DesignTinkers holiday camps are an introduction to Design Principles & Architecture Basics for kids 7 to 14 year olds.
Children will explore design and architectural concepts through hands-on model making and sketching. They will be introduced to Design Thinking which encourages them to take a solution-based approach in their creations, by focusing on who they are designing for and responding to the user’s needs and challenges.
DesignTinkers encourages children to re-think, reuse, recycle and repurpose common materials from daily lives for their creations. At the start of the camp week, Children will get to work in pairs/ small teams to build a life-size structure before progressing in the week on their individual home designs.
The children shall have a fabulous time exploring and testing their ideas; materialising them in 3D!
Dates: 6 to 10 September 2021 (Monday to Friday)
Time: 9 am to 1 pm
Ages: 7 to 14 years old (DesignTinkersKidz will be grouped by age on the day of the event)
Location: Goodman Arts Centre (10 mins walk from Mountbatten MRT)
Price: 5 half-day camp – $475, inclusive of a healthy snack and lunch. All materials will be provided.
Group Size: 5 to 12 DesignTinkersKidz per session; A low facilitator-to-child ratio will be kept to maximise the learning experience.

Design + Architecture 2 Half-day Holiday Camp
Children will explore design and architectural concepts through hands-on making.
Over the two days, children will have a basic introduction to tools Architects use and learn about form, scale and structure. They will learn and explore through both group and individual design and build activities.
Date: 6 to 7 September 2021 (Monday & Tuesday)
Time: 9 am to 1 pm
Ages: 7 to 14 years old (DesignTinkersKidz will be grouped by age on the day of the event)

Price: 2 half-day camp – $190; inclusive of a healthy snack and lunch. All materials will be provided.

Design + Architecture 3 Half-day Holiday Camp
Over three half-days, children will explore design and architectural concepts through sketching, planning and hands-on model making.
They will be introduced to Design Thinking which encourages them to take a solution-based approach in their creations, by focusing on who they are designing for and responding to the user’s needs and challenges.
Children will draw out their ideal floor plan before testing their form in 3D. They will be so proud to go home with a prototype of their home design at the end of the workshop!
Date: 8 to 10 September 2021 (Wednesday to Friday)
Time: 9 am to 1 pm
Ages: 7 to 14 years old (DesignTinkersKidz will be grouped by age on the day of the event)

Online Workshop: Modules in Design (Make an Object)
Art & design come together in this two-hour online session. DesignTinkersKidz will get creative in making a work of art / object for their home.
DesignTinkersKidz will be introduced to the concept of Modules in Design. The children will get creative with everyday objects to design their own unique modules before transforming it into a replicable system to form larger and infinite designs. We are excited to test the infinite module design possibilities together and the children and they will be delighted with their own unique creations at the end of the workshop!
Dates: 6 Sep or 9 Sep (Monday or Thursday)
Time: 4 pm to 6 pm
Ages: 7 to 14 years old
Location: Online (via Google Meet)
Price: $45. All materials will be mailed out to your address before the session.
