The Tampines GreenEmerald Playground offers a variety of play experiences with four adventures spread out throughout the housing estate at the junction of Bedok Reservoir Road and Tampines Street 96.
Thoughtfully divided into several distinct play zones, the Tampines GreenEmerald Playground is an outdoor space that invites children of different ages to explore, climb and imagine at their own pace. There are different play zones that cater to the the fearless climber or younger ones who are just finding their footing.
Tampines GreenEmerald Playground: Play Towers Side-by-side
The first zone at Tampines GreenEmerald Playground is anchored by a play tower that rises up from the ground. It can be found in front of Block 961, close to the multi-storey car park.
The main tower structure is actually made up of two towers and beckons older kids to make the climb. Ropes, steps and platforms lead up to the highlight: a long, exhilarating slide that sends children swooshing back down to earth with squeals of delight.
The transparent side panels of the tower make it easier for parents and caregivers to keep an eye on kids as they make the ascent.
Other play equipment here include a low and long rope bridge that provides an additional challenge for kids.
A merry-go-round that has sounds powered by activity, along with a trio of interactive poles, add to the play value of the playground. There is also a tilting game and a series of play panels at this play area.
Right beside it is a thoughtfully designed toddler area, scaled perfectly for smaller adventurers. Here, the platforms are lower, the steps are gentler and the slides are just the right size for tiny legs.
There are also swings for younger kids.
Parents will appreciate that toddlers can enjoy a space that feels tailor-made for them. It’s a clever layout that allows siblings of different ages to play side by side.
One of the interesting pieces of play equipment here includes a stepping pedal that lights up and encourages interaction.
Vehicle Themed Play Area
Moving on to the second play zone of the Tampines GreenEmerald Playground, a series of vehicle-themed play structures take centrestage. It can be found in between Blocks 961C and 963B.
Kids can make their way into a truck-themed play structure, along with others.
It is a chance to climbing, balancing and stretch the imagination.
Netted Play with a Zipline
The final section of the Tampines GreenEmerald Playground, found next to 963C and along the canal, is perhaps the most visually striking: a long netted tunnel stretching gracefully over a sloped zone.
Suspended above the ground, the tunnel is where kids can crawl through the enclosed netting, peeking out at the view below as they make their way from one end to the other.
The gentle incline adds an extra layer of challenge, encouraging kids to bravely venture through the tunnel.
There is a zipline too – however, we found that the zipline was rather slow.
