The Children’s Centre for Creativity is run by Playeum, an independent registered charity that champions play and creativity in all children through the arts. The Centre presents themed hands-on exhibitions that change yearly and is open to ALL families to visit.
Playeum runs Singapore’s first dedicated creative space for children aged 1 – 12, the Children’s Centre for Creativity at Gillman Barracks.
Its vision and mission embrace a commitment to the value of play, the arts and creativity in the lives of young children. The Centre presents themed hands-on exhibitions that change once a year and is open to ALL families to visit and explore.
It’s current hands-on exhibition being I-Opener – an interactive experience that invites families to explore artful play through their senses. I-Opener features the aesthetic and sensory play-worlds inspired by the artistic designs and creations of four artists with a disability, Dr Dawn-joy Leong, Cavan Chang, Sol Pickens and Jo Devadason. Co-curated and produced by Playeum’s Creative Directors Imran Mohamad and Dr. Esther Joosa, and Tech Catalyst Din Chan, the exhibition invites children aged 1 to 12 to explore their senses through play and the arts. Other than running the Children’s Centre for Creativity, Playeum also creates social impact through community outreach, training for teachers, space design, research and high-touch programmes with the social sector.
