The Grand Prix Singapore Season 2022 is in town and that means plenty of car-themed events, one of which is the LEGO Technic McLaren Formula 1 Pop-Up Experience at Ngee Ann Civic Plaza, from 23 September to 2 October 2022.
LEGO Replica of a McLaren Formula 1 Race Car
The highlight of the LEGO Technic McLaren Formula 1 Pop-Up Experience is a LEGO replica of a McLaren Formula 1 race car. Made from 288,315 LEGO bricks, the model is 5.7 metres in length and 2.7 metres wide. It even has details such as a removable halo and steering wheel.
What’s more, visitor will also have the unique opportunity to sit in the driver’s seat for a photo. [Edit: we found out that visitors are no longer able to sit inside as there was some breakage over the weekend. Oops.]
The car was was built by the only LEGO Certified Professional in the Southern Hemisphere, Ryan McNaught. It took 1,893 hours to assemble.

Singapore is the LEGO car’s first stop in in Southeast Asia.
Interactive Stations
Visitors can also take part in activities at three interactive stations at the pop-up.
At the LEGO McLaren Race Car Build station, players can challenge themselves to accomplish the fastest building time of a half-assembled 42141 LEGO Technic McLaren Formula 1 Race Car set, and receive a LEGO minifigure upon completion.
Players can put their memory and speed to the test at the LEGO Match & Build station, while learning about the functions of the many buttons on the steering wheel.
Visitors can also capture their moment with the giant build by having a complimentary photo printout at the LEGO Photo Print.
Fans of the youngest ever British Formula 1 Driver Lando Norris, can also catch the man himself as he makes a short pit stop at the pop up on 28 September.
