Japanese Calligraphy Art Exhibition in Singapore
Promoting Cultural Exchange Between Japan and Singapore
Sunstar, a company with Japanese origins, will present the first Japanese calligraphy art exhibition hosted by Nihon Shodo Bijutsuin (Japan Calligraphy Art Academy), one of Japan’s oldest calligraphy art institutes, alongside other art and culture events in October in Singapore.
The exhibition will display about 60 pieces of curated masterpieces by calligraphers of Nihon Shodo Bijutsuin, across four categories:
- Sino-Japanese ideograms (“kanji”)
- Japanese syllabary (“kana”)
- New calligraphic art
- Seal carving
Japanese Calligraphy Art Exhibition
Don’t miss the unique opportunity to watch calligraphy performances by calligraphy masters taking place daily at The Luxe Art Museum, in Singapore’s Dhoby Ghaut district, from 2pm to 3pm from 20 to 24 October. There will also be opportunities for visitors to learn and practice calligraphy. Visitors will also receive an exclusive calligraphy art gift and a lovely Sunstar goodie bag while stocks last.
Admission to the exhibition and performances are free for the public. The number of participants for calligraphy trial is limited. All activities are free of charge.
Japanese Cultural Workshop Day
In addition, on October 21, 2017, Sunstar will co-organize a series of workshops and events with its partners to bring Japanese calligraphy and culture to the heartland communities of Singapore. Visitors will be able to enjoy calligraphy performances, learn and practice calligraphy and have opportunities for other Japanese cultural experience.
The events will be held at:
– The Japanese Association, Singapore (JAS) – 10am
– Japan Creative Centre (JCC) – 10am
– Choa Chu Kang Community Club (CC) – Afternoon to Evening
– Our Tampines Hub (OTH) – Afternoon
At Choa Chu Kang CC, Sunstar will also hold a ‘Kids Dental Show’, an oral health edutainment show to raise awareness about the importance of oral care within the local communities.
