Promoting Cultural Exchange Between Japan and Singapore

Sunstar, a company with Japanese origins, will present the first Japanese calligraphy art exhibition hosted by Nihon Shodo Bijutsuin (Japan Calligraphy Art Academy), one of Japan’s oldest calligraphy art institutes, alongside other art and culture events in October in Singapore.

The exhibition will display about 60 pieces of curated masterpieces by calligraphers of Nihon Shodo Bijutsuin, across four categories:

  1. Sino-Japanese ideograms (“kanji”)
  2. Japanese syllabary (“kana”)
  3. New calligraphic art
  4. Seal carving

Japanese Calligraphy Art Exhibition

Don’t miss the unique opportunity to watch calligraphy performances by calligraphy masters taking place daily at The Luxe Art Museum, in Singapore’s Dhoby Ghaut district, from 2pm to 3pm from 20 to 24 October. There will also be  opportunities for visitors to learn and practice calligraphy. Visitors will also receive an exclusive calligraphy art gift and a lovely Sunstar goodie bag while stocks last.

Admission to the exhibition and performances are free for the public. The number of participants for calligraphy trial is limited. All activities are free of charge.

Japanese Cultural Workshop Day
In addition, on October 21, 2017, Sunstar will co-organize a series of workshops and events with its partners to bring Japanese calligraphy and culture to the heartland communities of Singapore. – The Japanese Association, Singapore (JAS) – 10am
– Japan Creative Centre (JCC) – 10am
– Choa Chu Kang Community Club (CC) – Afternoon to Evening
