Craft Workshop: Cloth Koinobori
In Japan, the carp is a symbol of courage, strength, and success, because of its ability to swim upstream. According to one legend, a carp swam against the current to become a dragon. Since the Edo period, the Japanese have been putting up koinobori, or carp streamers, as a spring tradition to wish all children good health and happiness. It is also a sign of hope for them to bear the traits of the carp.
Using stamps and paint, come transform a plain cloth into a koinobori that is uniquely yours!
