Ever wondered what kind of wildlife you can find along Singapore’s shoreline? Now, special edition Singapore Shores Guidesheets are available for those interested to learn about the marine life that makes their home along Singapore’s shores.

Special Edition Guidesheets for the International Year of the Reef 2018

This new edition of Singapore Shores Guidesheets has been issued in conjunction with the International Year of the Reef (IYOR) 2018.

More than 60 countries and groups around the world will be marking IYOR 2018 to highlight the threats faced by coral reefs and other ecosystems.

In Singapore, community-led platform Celebrating Singapore Shores has been formed for IYOR 2018. The group, which includes non-governmental organisations, academics, private organisations, academics and government agencies, celebrates all types of shores found in Singapore including mangroves, reefs, seagrass.

Two versions of the Singapore Shores Guidesheets are available – the Northern guidesheet and the Southern guidesheet.

The Northern Guidesheet focuses on the variety of marine life found in locations such as Pasir Ris Park, Pulau Ubin and Chek Jawa, Pulau Sekudu and Changi. The green-coloured guidesheet also highlights the outreach work of groups Naked Hermit Crabs and TeamSeagrass.

The blue Southern Guidesheet covers Labrador Nature Reserve, Sentosa, Kusu Island, St John’s Island, Pulau Semakau, Pulau Hantu and the Sisters Island Marine Park.

Both Guidesheets are richly illustrated with photos of the wildlife found along Singapore’s shores and include information about the wild marine creatures. The Guidesheets also provide stories and accounts about the various locations and tips on how to play a part in making a difference.

How to Get the Singapore Shores Guidesheets

This is the second edition of the Singapore Shores Guidesheets. The first print of the guidesheets was in 2004.
