Giant Supermarket’s Goodness Gang has arrived to encourage children to eat more fruits and vegetables. Expect to see characters such as Barbara Broccoli, Cathy Carrot, Andy Apple and Max Mushroom sprouting up around Giant outlets as part of an island-wide initiative by the supermarket chain to bring out the fun side of healthier eating habits.
As part of the new Giant Goodness Gang’s roll-out taking place from now till May 2018, there will be initiatives such as kid-friendly in-store features, promotional activities, educational tours and recipes for families to try out together.
Child-friendly Store Features
Starting with Giant’s flagship store in Tampines, the supermarket will be rolling out child-friendly features within stores.
Kids can make use of kid-sized checkout counters and self-weighing machines as part of the shopping experience. These provide a hands-on way for children to get involved in shopping for fresh produce.
Vege-cation Programme for Kindergartens and Primary Schools

Educational tours will be conducted with kindergartens and primary schools. Held in partnership with My Messy Box, the “vega-cation” programme will take kids on an interactive learning journey through Giant’s fresh produce aisles.
Children will be taught how to identify various fruits and vegetables and learn their nutritional benefits. The educational tours will incorporate fun activities such as a treasure hunt and interactive quiz.
Giant Supermarket’s Goodness Gang
While out at Giant Supermarkets, don’t be surprised to see the Goodness Gang around the aisles. Each of the 10 characters in the Goodness Gang highlights a key nutritional value for healthy living. They will be placed around the fresh produce shelves to help attract kids’ attention and highlight the value of eating fruit and vegetables.
Giant’s customers can redeem 15 cm tall Goodness Gang character plush toys too. Spend $10 to receive a Goodness Gang stamp and collect 18 stamps to redeem a plush toy. Alternatively, collect six stamps to purchase the plush toy for $3.90 or purchase the plush toy at the regular price of $9.90. There will also be in-store games where shoppers will have the chance to win exclusive 20 cm or 1 metre plush toys.
Healthy and Fun Kid-Friendly Recipes
Parents can also download a Goodness Gang recipe book containing 10 simple and healthy recipes from www.giant.sg/goodness-gang. These recipes have been developed by certified children Nutritionist Ms Ong Ke Min in consultation with the Health Promotion Board to encourage healthy eating.
Turning a Household Chore to a Fun Family Affair
