Hooray for the weekend, as we move closer to the end of the school year! As you gear up towards the holidays, we show you a selection of fun activities the whole family can enjoy and bond over.

1. The Big Draw by Playeum – Every Drawing Tells a Story

14 to 15 Nov, 12 pm to 5 pm

Children’s Centre for Creativity, Gillman Barracks

The theme this year for Playeum’s annual initiative, The Big Draw, is Every Drawing Tells a Story. There will be interactive activities and workshops with visual artists, makers and performers to celebrate drawing together. Highlights include an interactive installation by Singapore artist Agatha Lee, a dance performance, and an artist-led photography workshop by Richard Kearns. Under the Big Top, next to Marina Bay Sands

Cirque du Soleil is back in town, this time with another jaw-dropping show that explores various origin stories in folklore and charts mankind’s evolution from primordial swamp creatures to beings that dream of flight. With an array of acrobatic performances, soulful theatrics, lavish costumes and state of the art digital effects, it’s a show not to be missed. Read our review.

3. I Tell You…. (by I Theatre)

14 Nov, 6 pm & 8 pm

Tiong Bahru Market

Follow local taxi driver ‘Ah Hee’ as he takes you on a unique theatrical storytelling trail through Tiong Bahru. Watch the estate’s key landmarks transform into stage backdrops for this interactive, promenade-style drama performance, as the cast brings local stories and interesting characters of the neighbourhood to life. Pre-registration required.

4. Treasure Island

30 Oct to 13 Dec, various timings

DBS Arts Centre, Home of SRT

The SRT’s The Little Company presents the tale of Jim Hawkins, a lion-hearted 13-year-old girl who goes on the hunt for hidden treasure after being given a map by an old seaman. Based on the much-loved children’s classic novel, this action-packed musical about friendship and trust will have you on the edge of your seat.

5. Explore Coney Island

Opened 10 Oct

Spend a day out at Singapore’s newest park, which was opened to the public just last month following a 15-month makeover. Though it’s now far more accessible to the public, the island’s natural character has been preserved. Read our list of things you should know before visiting.

6. Pororo Park Singapore

Marina Square

Southeast Asia’s first Pororo-themed indoor play park opens its doors this week at Marina Square’s new retail wing. Attractions include a slow kiddie train ride called the Pororo Express, a Shark Ball Pool brimming with plastic balls and Poby the Polar Bear’s Jungle Gym. This being the opening weekend, expect it to be packed. More details here.

7. Mickey’s Music Festival Meet & Greet

13 to 15 Nov, various timings

The theatre show only opens on 21 Nov, but kids can get up close with their favourite Disney characters in advance at this meet-and-greet session. There will also be special guests making an appearance, such as characters from Aladdin, Toy Story and The Little Mermaid.
