This year’s Singapore Writers Festival offers a more exciting and comprehensive programme for kids and families. The Esplanade presents this free, family-friendly concert by Orchestra Collective, a wind orchestra made up of many former current and former musicians from the Singapore National Youth Orchestra. Here, they will perform signature tunes from well-loved films such as Star Wars, West Side Story andSpirited Away.

Go on an exhilarating journey to Treasure Island with the SRT’s The Little Company, as they bring you the tale of Jim Hawkins, a lion-hearted 13-year-old girl who is tasked with finding hidden treasure after being given a treasure map by a kooky old seaman. A swashbuckling and action-packed adventure about friendship and trust.

Red Cross House
Donate to charity and snag yourself some great bargains at the same time when you head down to Shop@Red Cross, a thrift shop that’s wholly managed by volunteers of the Singapore Red Cross. With a wide range of products available at this bazaar, there’s sure to be something for everyone.

Empress Place & Victoria Theatre
It’s a celebration of all things Peranakan, from its art and design to fashion, food, music and culture. The theatre shows, seminars and workshops are ticketed events, but the exhibition and bazaar are free to the public. So head down, soak in the festival atmosphere and go treasure-hunting at the bazaar, where you’d find books, baju, jewellery and makan.
