1. SWF for Families (SWF3)

Various locations, with most SWF3 events at the Asian Civilisations Museum

This year’s Singapore Writers Festival offers a more exciting and comprehensive programme for kids and families. There’s a host of craft and creative workshops, such as illustration and the making of dreamcatchers, pawprint dioramas and puppets, plus fun, interactive storytelling sessions. 2. Cirque du Soleil – TOTEM

29 Oct to 6 Dec, various timings
Under the Big Top, next to Marina Bay Sands

Don’t miss your chance to catch the amazing Cirque du Soleil, this time back with a new show that’s based on folkloric origin stories and traces the evolution of mankind through the ages. A visual and sensorial treat that incorporates circus arts, theatrical performances, soaring live music and elaborate costumes, it’s an experience that will blow your mind. Read our review here.

3. Seussical the Musical

6 to 8 Nov, 11 am & 3 pm
Esplanade Theatre

Go on a fantastical, bombastical and songtastical journey into the world of Dr Seuss with the Cat in the Hat. Merging elements and storylines from beloved books like Horton Hears a Who and Green Eggs and Ham, this riotous musical is sure to get your toes tapping, fingers snapping and imagination taking flight.

Esplanade Concert Hall

The Esplanade presents this free, family-friendly concert by Orchestra Collective, a wind orchestra made up of many former current and former musicians from the Singapore National Youth Orchestra. Here, they will perform signature tunes from well-loved films such as Star Wars, West Side Story andSpirited Away.

5. Treasure Island

30 Oct to 13 Dec, various timings
DBS Arts Centre, Home of SRT

Go on an exhilarating journey to Treasure Island with the SRT’s The Little Company, as they bring you the tale of Jim Hawkins, a lion-hearted 13-year-old girl who is tasked with finding hidden treasure after being given a treasure map by a kooky old seaman. A swashbuckling and action-packed adventure about friendship and trust.

6. The Great Red Cross Sale

8 Nov, 11 am to 4 pm
Red Cross House

Donate to charity and snag yourself some great bargains at the same time when you head down to Shop@Red Cross, a thrift shop that’s wholly managed by volunteers of the Singapore Red Cross. With a wide range of products available at this bazaar, there’s sure to be something for everyone.

7. Peranakan Arts Festival

4 to 8 Nov, 10 am to 9 pm
Empress Place & Victoria Theatre

It’s a celebration of all things Peranakan, from its art and design to fashion, food, music and culture. The theatre shows, seminars and workshops are ticketed events, but the exhibition and bazaar are free to the public. So head down, soak in the festival atmosphere and go treasure-hunting at the bazaar, where you’d find books, baju, jewellery and makan.

8. Celebrate Deepavali

8 Nov, 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm
Activity Room in Geylang East Public Library

Want to learn about the different customs and traditions celebrated on Deepavali? Then head on over to Geylang East Public Library this Sunday. Kids will get to make a decorative festive lamp which they can bring home too. Admission is free but pre-registration is required.

9. Healthy Lifestyle Festival SG

7 to 8 Nov
