New Children’s Book: Secrets of the Swamp

Three brothers set out to uncover theSecrets of the Swamp in this new children’s book written by Neil Humphreys and illustrated by Chng Puay Koon. The brothers, Alfie, Luke and Pacey are playing in the mangrove swamp when they encounter a strange bearded man whom they nickname “Swamp Man”, who leads them into forest and on an adventure of a lifetime.

Commissioned by the National Parks Board as part of celebrations for the 50 Years of Greening Singapore, Secrets of the Swamp is written for primary school children and aims to increase their awareness of Singapore’s biodiversity.

The book includes a pull-out map which highlights parks, nature spaces and Singapore’s biodiversity.

Secrets of the Swamp is available at $16 from major bookstores and from the Library Shop at the Singapore Botanic Gardens.

A storytelling and activity session for children aged 7 to 12 by Neil Humpreys will be held on 16 November 2013 at the Central Public Library. Children will also be able to take part in a sketching activity together with Chng Puay Koon.
