Ballet Under The Stars Returns with Two Choices in Repertoire

Absence Of Story

Singapore’s much loved annual outdoor dance event – Ballet Under The Stars – is back for its 18th Edition for two enchanting weekends this year. As part of Singapore Dance Theatre’s (SDT) 25th Anniversary celebrations, the company will present two choices in repertoire.

Ballet Under The Stars Returns

On the initial weekend from 19 – 21 July 2013, SDT will perform a showcase of contemporary dance works, featuring guest artists from Expressions Dance Company (Australia) (EDC) as well as pieces from the Company’s repertoire. Works include Absence of Story by Toru Shimazaki to the music of Brahms, Carmen Suite by Natalie Weir and performed by EDC, a new work by Natalie Weir jointly performed by EDC and SDT, and Fives a classical and contemporary ‘music ballet’ by Goh Choo San.

Absence Of Story

From 26 – 28 July 2013, SDT will revive the heart-wrenching romantic tale of Giselle, one of ballet’s most famous tragedies, in its full classical version. The ballet tells the tale of a peasant girl who falls in love with a prince, only to have it all transcend into heartbreak and tragedy.

The lush outdoor setting of Fort Canning Green will serve as a perfect backdrop for families to unwind with a leisurely evening picnic whilst enjoying the beauty of dance. Children will be entertained by fun activities such as face painting and balloon sculpting.
